Pre-Treatment

  • If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions, it is recommended that you schedule a skin patch test 48 hours prior to the scheduled service.
  • Please disclose if you are taking any antibiotics, using Accutane, AHAs or retinoids as some prescription medications can lead to thinning of the skin, irritation, lifting, or increased sensitivity
  • Refrain from heavy exfoliants and retinol products for at least 3 days prior to the service

Post Treatment

  • It is recommended to keep brows/lashes dry for 24 hours
  • Do not touch or rub the treatment area
  • Do not tan/sunbathe, or apply any self-tanning products to the face for 48 hours after the treatment
  • Do not apply makeup or other eye treatments to brow area for at least 24 hours after your treatment
  • Try to avoid using makeup remover (especially oil based) in the area as it can cause the treatment to fade quicker
  • Avoid swimming/saunas/steam rooms/heavy exercise (that would make you sweaty) for at least 24 hours post treatment
  • Results will last longer by avoiding strong UV light, products containing AHA's, oils, conditioners, or serums to the treated area

Sugaring + Wax - Hair Removal (Basic Services)

These hair removal services have the same goal in mind, to remove the hair.  Some contraindications to receiving a hair removal service are sunburned, irritated skin, areas with open skin lesions or infections. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, some chemical peels, laser, or microdermabrasion treatments performed within the past year may be contraindicative. Please be advised that some medications may prohibit the service or cause irritation, concern, lifting or thinning of the skin such as blood thinners, Accutane, Adapalene, Alustra, Avage, Avita, Differin, Isotretinoin, Renova, Retin-A, Tazarac, Tazarotene, Tretinoin or sun-sensitive medications such as antibiotics. Sadly, hair removal services cannot be performed if you have blood or skin disorders that would be exacerbated by hair removal, if you are at an elevated risk for infection, or if your immune system is compromised. If that is the case, you may either obtain a clearance note from your physician, or we can provide you with a referral to explore the option of laser hair removal. For some services, it is advised for the safety of any pregnant woman who is closer to term (8 months or more) to ask their physician for the go-ahead prior to scheduling a bikini service appointment just to ensure it is OK for to be laying on the treatment table for more than 40 minutes.

Pre-Treatment

For a Brazilian service (all or most hair removed), the results will be more thorough sans undergarments. However, if you are on the modest side, or if you don't plan to have all your bikini hair removed and would feel more comfortable wearing something, we have disposable panties available for use. If you prefer to bring a fresh pair panties of your own to change into for the service, go for it! If that's the case, depending on how racy you want to go, we recommend bringing a thong, a high cut panty, or your swimsuit bottoms. The sugar paste washes out with warm water and won't stain your clothing.  We want your experience to be positive, so you choose what makes you feel most comfortable.

Should I trim? YES PLEASE! The day of your appointment, your hair should be no longer than ¼ inch long (that is about the size of a rice grain or pencil eraser). This will make your hair removal experience more comfortable, and allows the product to completely grip around the hair. If you are physically unable to trim, please indicate this in the booking notes so I may build extra time into your service. It is recommend to not shave for at least two weeks prior to your appointment. Please arrive with the hair trimmed to 1/4 inch for the areas to be treated.

  • You may gently exfoliate the skin to be treated a day or two before your scheduled appointment. Do not use rough exfoliants. Try a loofah or a soft washcloth soaked in warm water to gently exfoliate the skin. Do not rub too hard as this may result in breaks on the skin.
  • Moisturize the skin a few days prior and the night before your service, but come to your appointment with the area trimmed, clean, and free of lotions and/or deodorants
  • If you are getting waxed or sugared and use skincare products that contain retinol, please temporarily stop using them at least two weeks before your scheduled appointment. Retinol-based products make the skin vulnerable to injury,

Post Treatment

  • Avoid excessive heat to the treated area for 12-24 hours. This includes baths, saunas, steam, heavy exercise that will "make you sweaty"
  • Use a recommended post-treatment serum or lotion following the treatment to help calm, prevent or invite any irritation or infection. Avoid products with artificial fragrance and keep it simple. Remember, your hair has been removed and your skin barrier is fragile.
  • Avoid sun/tanning products for 12-24 hours. This includes any strong UV light exposure or tanning beds. Also refrain from applying self-tanner and high chemical based SPF as the chemicals can be irritating
  • If you are prone to ingrown hairs, you may gently exfoliate the area with a loofah or apply a recommended post treatment serum or lotion the day after your service and every 3-4 days thereafter if needed
  • Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6-8 hours post-treatment. Slight pinking is normal and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason professional waxing and sugaring lasts so much longer
  • For best results it is recommended to schedule hair removal services every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate

It cannot be performed on skin with an active infection in the treatment area, sunburns, active breakouts, severe cases of rosacea, melanoma or lesions suspected of malignancy. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are also prohibited from receiving the treatment, as it may increase skin sensitivity and the risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

Post Treatment:

You may notice your skin has a great glow-up and looks very healthy and hydrated after the treatment. With appropriate home care, you can keep it looking fresh and vibrant until your next visit. The treatment gently removes the top layers of dead skin cells and exposes a layer of fresh, healthy skin cells that are more vulnerable than the older skin we removed. It is possible that you may experience temporary irritation, redness, or tightness. These reactions are all  normal, and will typically resolve within 48-72 hours depending on skin sensitivity. You may feel slight tingling or stinging in the treatment area that can feel like a wind or sunburn. Some people may experience a delayed onset of these symptoms.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 30. You will be more susceptible to sunburn, sun damage  and you do not want to risk possible hyperpigmentation
  • There is a possibility that following the treatment you may experience purging. Purging occurs when deep exfoliating treatments have been performed. Since everything is being brought to the surface, you may experience some breakouts the days following your treatment. It is important to stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day, avoid touching your face. If this happens, just let Melissa know, a plan can be made to calm things down
  • Avoid the use of aggressive exfoliation, waxing, and products such as masks and cleansers containing acids or retinols in the treated areas for 3-5 days.  Over exfoliation can lead to sensitized skin and can even encourage breakouts.
  • Cleanse the area morning and evening daily using a gentle cleanser (I can recommend one to you, or we can discuss options you may already have at home). Then, apply a non-active serum or moisturizer and follow up with a SPF 30 application. In the evening, practice the same protocol using a serum or night moisturizing treatment cream and skip the SPF 30
  • Let your skin breathe and refrain from wearing makeup for 12-24 hours. If you must wear makeup, lightly apply a tinted mineral based moisturizer. Be sure to cleanse and disinfect your makeup brushes to avoid spreading bacteria!
  • Change your pillowcase and your face towels tonight to keep your face as clean as possible. Your skin has been deeply exfoliated and you want to do what you can to ensure the best possible results from your treatment
  • Drink plenty of water

Ultrasonic Facial (Advanced Treatment)

An ultrasonic facial uses cavitation to remove dead skin cells and debris quickly and safely. It is considered safe, easy and a gentle treatment for all skin types, including sensitive, rosacea and acne prone skin. It is not recommended for those with a pacemaker, heart disease history, or serious thyroid conditions.

Pre-Treatment

  • Refrain from heavy exfoliation and the use of any retinol products for at least 2 days before your treatment

  • Apply SPF 30 for 2 days after the service to protect your skin (although wearing SPF 30 everyday is recommended!). If you do not have an SPF 30 at home, I am happy to help provide product recommendations
  • Don't forget to stay hydrated - drink your water

Then, apply a non-active serum or moisturizer (no retinols, AHA, BHA), and follow up with an application of SPF 30+ sunscreen. In the evening, practice the same protocol using a serum or night moisturizing cream and skip the SPF 30

Light Emitting Diode (LED) Therapy (Advanced Treatment)

LED Therapy works by using non-invasive Light Emitting Diodes with specific wavelengths of light color that penetrate the skin at different depths to addresses areas of sun damage, tone and texture, acne and superficial wrinkles by stimulating your body’s own regenerative metabolism. It helps accelerate the repair of collagen and elastin, aids in the reduction of inflammation, redness, and helps boost the effectiveness of other anti-aging treatments. LED can also be done on all skin types, regardless of ethnicity. Contraindications include pregnancy, epilepsy, photo-allergy, and medications that cause light sensitivity (such as Tetracycline and some antibiotics).

Pre-Treatment

  • Skin must be clean and free of make-up and skin products

Post Treatment

  • It is recommended to wear a daily SPF 30+ to protect your skin

Microcurrent (Advanced Treatment)

Microcurrent is like a “workout for your face muscles”. Also known as the "Lunchtime Facelift", the device lifts and tightens your skin using low-voltage electricity waves to stimulate muscle, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) cell growth, and promote collagen development in the dermis layer of the face. Microcurrent treatments work best on balanced skin and is not recommended for those with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, epilepsy, pregnancy, cancer, thrombosis, phlebitis, metal plates, pins, or non-removable piercings in the treatment area. If you are under the care of a physician for a disorder, illness, disease, or injury, please speak to your doctor to ensure you have clearance to receive microcurrent prior to the scheduled treatment; if appropriate, please provide a medical clearance note so it may be kept in your confidential client file.

Pre-Treatment

  • You may practice your regular skin routine and may gently exfoliate your skin 3 days prior to the treatment
  • Avoid stripping your skin or using any new products before your treatment
  • It is OK to continue the use of retinol products.
  • Do not undergo cosmetic injections for 2 weeks before and after treatments

Post Treatment

  • Drink water before and after - hydrated skin is happy skin that will have the best results
  • Use a sunscreen with SPF and UV ray protection

Note: When this modality is performed starting as a series of 4-6 sessions for one month, the microcurrent treatment “face lift” effects can be maintained by keeping the facial muscles toned and trained by scheduling a touch up treatment once every 4-8 weeks (depending on age/condition of skin/muscle). It’s a commitment, but the results are a healthy alternative to Botox and fillers because you are activating the muscles in the face, rather than freezing them. If you would like to consider a series of microcurrent sessions, please contact Melissa

Micro-Needling (Advanced Treatment)

Micro-needling devices intentionally create very superficial “micro-injuries” to the outermost layer of the skin, inducing the healing process including new collagen production. Micro-needling, also called “collagen induction therapy”, has been shown to reduce the visibility of acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles, diminish hyperpigmentation, and improve skin tone and texture, resulting in smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin. This advanced skin needling treatment is performed in a safe and precise manner with a sterile device. Contraindicators include current or recent use of Accutane, eczema, dermatitis, malignant skin tumors, open lesions, lupus, active herpes infection, sunburn and keratoses. Micro-needling cannot be performed on those with an allergy to nickel, undergoing any cancer therapy (chemo or radiation) or clients on blood thinners.

Pre Treatment

  • SPF 30+ MUST be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks. Avoid direct sunlight exposure immediately following the treatment and for the next 3 days (including any strong UV light exposure or tanning beds)
  • Keep your skin as clean as possible; if you must wear make-up, applying a light tinted moisturizer is recommended. If you do not have one, please let me know and I can provide you with a recommendation
  • Cleanse the treated area twice daily using a gentle cleanser (I can recommend one to you, or we can discuss options you may already have at home). Then, apply a non-active serum or moisturizer (no retinols, AHA, BHA), and follow up with an application of SPF 30+ sunscreen. In the evening, practice the same protocol using a serum or night moisturizing cream and skip the SPF 30

Chemical Peels (Advanced Treatment)

Chemical peels can improve the skin's appearance. Depending on the skin condition and goal, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which causes a reaction for the treated skin to become flaky, red, or blistered and eventually peels off to revel new skin. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled or damaged than the old skin. Chemical peels can be done on the face, neck, or hands. They can be used to reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging,  improve the appearance of mild scars, treat certain types of acne, reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills, and improve the look and feel of skin. Contraindications include active acne, bacterial, viral, fungal, or herpetic infection, open wounds or lesions, photosensitizing prescriptions, preexisting inflammatory dermatoses (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, pemphigus), facial cancers, especially facial melanoma, those with a history of abnormal scarring, keloids, atrophic skin, or isotretinoin use in the last 12 months, and clients who smoke, are not committed to staying out of the sun, or resume the use of retinols or other skin altering products before it is recommended. Smokers are not candidates for chemical peels.

  • Avoid sun exposure prior to treatment. Sunburned skin cannot be treated
  • Do not bleach, wax, tweeze or use depilatory creams in treatment area for 3 days prior to treatment
  • Discontinue use of retinoid (Retin A, Tazorac, Differin, etc), Hydroquinone products, 10% or higher Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, Glycolic Acids, and exfoliants 3 days prior to peel
  • If you have a history of cold sores or herpes, it is recommended to contact your physician to receive a prescription for a course of antiviral therapy before and after treatment if needed
  • Schedule your treatment at a time when minor swelling or peeling will not disrupt your social obligations, there is some down time where you might want to lay low for a few days

Post Treatment

  • Redness might be present (and last up to several hours) after peel. Swelling and peeling will start for 3-5 days after peel. Do not pick or scratch at treated skin! Keep moisturized
  • Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness, use cool compress after 4 hours if excessive discomfort, burning, redness, or swelling
  • Eat fresh pineapple, salmon, walnuts (bromelain and omegas) to optimize healing and help reduce inflammation
  • Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours
  • Treat skin gently washing with a gentle cleanser, cool water, using hands only and pat dry no earlier than 4 hours after peel. Keep it moisturized!
  • Avoid sun exposure and use a minimum of SPF 30 daily and TRY to avoid the outdoors/sun/UV rays at all costs, you do not want to risk any hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, rashes, scarring, or other possible negative side effects
  • IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT EVERY ONE IS DIFFERENT IN THEIR RESULTS AS WELL AS THEIR POST TREATMENT RECOVERY PERIOD

High Frequency (Advanced Treatment)

The high frequency wand is used to treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decongest puffy eyes, and help fade dark eye circles. Using certain attachments, it can even rejuvenate the condition of the scalp and help nourish hair follicles for healthier hair growth. High frequency utilizes oscillation, or movement, through a wand attached to a compact device. Using the dial on the device's wand, electrical currents are set at just the right frequency for low-level electricity to transfer through bulb-like tips that are attached into the wand. The bulb is then placed just at the surface of the skin in the areas to be treated. High Frequency will not be used to treat over areas of broken capillaries, spider veins and rosacea. Contraindications include pregnancy, those with a pacemaker or history of heart disease, or are prone to seizures from flashing lights, such as epilepsy.

Pre-Treatment

  • It is recommended to refrain from using heavy exfoliates, AHAs, glycolic products, and the use of retinols prior to the treatment

Post Treatment

  • Follow regular home care regimen, wear SPF 30, and stay hydrated

Radio Frequency (RF) Skin Tightening (Advanced Treatment)

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin in areas such as the cheeks, chin and jowl areas. The procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin known as your dermis. This heat stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is the most common protein in your body. It creates the framework of your skin and gives your skin its firmness. RF waves heat the deep layer of your skin to between 122 and 167°F (50–75°C). When that temperature is constant for over 3 minutes, it causes your body to release heat-shock proteins. These proteins stimulate your body to create new collagen fibers. Contraindications for this treatment include pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or any active implanted devices. One reason being is the metal attracts the RF energy and the area can become quite hot and painful. If you have any open sores, active acne, an infection or skin sensitivity in the area, this treatment is not recommended.

Pre-Treatment

  • Do not undergo any chemical peels or laser procedures for 2 weeks prior to the treatment
  • Avoid heavy exfoliation and the use of active skin care products such as those containing Vitamin A (retinols), Vitamin C, AHA’s and BHA products 7 days pre and post treatment
  • Do not undergo cosmetic injections for 2 weeks before and after treatments
  • If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, you may require a course of anti-viral medication pre and post treatment, Please contact your physician for a prescription to plan ahead, and do complete the whole prescription course
  • Please hydrate really well the day of and day after treatment as this will result in a more comfortable and effective treatment

Mild redness may occur several hours after the procedure. Depending on the level of intensity, it is not uncommon to      experience some tenderness, swelling, warmth, and redness on the treated areas for a few days to a week after treatment

Post Treatment

  • Stay hydrated
  • Refrain from touching your face
  • Do not vigorously rub the skin in the treated area. Gently cleanse your face and pat your skin dry. Perform a post skincare routine by cleansing the treated area twice daily using a gentle cleanser (I can recommend one to you, or we can discuss options you may already have at home). Then, apply a non-active serum or a calming moisturizer (products not containing Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHA’s and BHA, any exfoliating products), and follow up with an application of SPF 30+ sunscreen. In the evening,  practice the same protocol using a night serum or night  moisturizing cream and skip the SPF 30. Follow this protocol until it is comfortable for you to reintroduce your regular regimen
  • Wait 7 days before resuming the use of Retin-a (tretinoin), Renova, Differin, Tazorac, Ziana, Veltin, Atralin, glycolic acids or any other exfoliating agents (this includes skin scrubbers like Clarisonic brushes)
  • Do not undergo laser treatments, chemical peels, waxing, the use of depilatories, or deep exfoliating (such as microdermabrasion) at least 7 days post treatment
  • If you would like to schedule a series of RF treatments, most people notice improvements with a series of 2-4 treatments in intervals of 1-2 weeks
